Job Seeker: SkillUp

SkillUp lists jobs and occupations as potential next steps in your career. Jobs listed are ones that employers have not yet invited you to apply to them. It is customized to your likes and current qualifications. By default, it lists occupations that you may like the most but are currently not qualified for. You can explore these jobs and occupations to learn more about them. This includes descriptions of the job, education requirements, and expected salaries.

You can explore SkillUp on the website or via the smartphone app. Below are instructions for the website and mobile.

Website

  1. If you haven’t logged in, go to unify.unifylabs.org. Click on the “Seeker Login” button and login with your email and password.

  2. Once logged in, click on “SkillUp” on the left side of the window.

A new screen will open called “My Skill Up Opportunities”. This lists occupations, typical education and experience preferences, and your Fit and Match scores. Fit scores indicate how much you might like that occupation. Match scores indicate how qualified you are for that occupation. The more your complete your profile the more precise the Fit and Match scores will be.

The occupations are listed based on Fit scores (how much you may like that occupation). The occupation at the top is the occupation you may like the most. It is ok if you are not qualified for this occupation. The goal of SkillUp is to help you become qualified.

  3. To see the details of an occupation, click on the title of the occupation. A new screen will open that displays the details of that occupation.

The bottom left box displays the salary estimates for that job in your area as well as the job outlook. The Job Outlook displays if the occupation is growing or declining and how many jobs are open each year.

On the right are a series of drop downs that display other details about that occupation. Click on each one to expand it. For example, if you click on “Task” it will expand and show the primary tasks that are part of that occupation.

In the upper left box that lists the name of occupation you will see a button that says “See Education Opportunities”. Clicking this button will open up a side menu that lists schools in your local area that provide degrees/certifications for that occupation. Here you can explore schools and programs to improve your match score for this occupation.
